This includes public events, dedicated multiplayer dungeons, as well as voice chat, among many others. However, it will also be designed to incorporate MMO elements. Make no mistake, it's still going to be an action role-playing game (ARPG). What's even more surprising is that the world's premier dungeon crawler will be designed as a mobile MMO. However, in what seems like an even more monumental move, Blizzard wants to bring Diablo to mobile with Diablo Immortal. Diablo Immortal is set to bridge the gap between Diablo 2 and Diablo 3.Ĭase in point, making Diablo available on consoles, once again, with the release of Diablo 3 in the early 2010s. Blizzard is simply saying that "it takes significant time to meet the Blizzard quality level we’re aiming for, and we have a lot of ambitious goals for Diablo Immortal." Still, its developers are promising post-launch support.Blizzard has always tried its best to keep its franchises ahead of the proverbial curve. If you are more interested in Diablo 4, you can watch its reveal and gameplay trailers or see a plethora of concept art and screenshots that were released for it.Įven though NetEase's CEO said that Diablo Immortal was "pretty much ready" to release all the way back in March, today's appearance at BlizzCon did not bring any release news with it. A new post on Blizzard's website also delves more into what makes the game stand out and where exactly it takes place in Diablo's timeline. If you want to learn more about how the game plays, you should check out DualShockers' preview from last year. It was definitely announced at the wrong time though, so it makes sense that Blizzard would end up relegating discussion on the title to after their opening ceremony. While there is a negative stigma around Diablo Immortal and Blizzard in general nowadays, I actually think this game looks pretty good for a mobile adaptation of the classic ARPG series. Most notably, this trailer reveals the new zones of Wortham, Dark Wood, Tamoe Mountain and Ashwold Cemetary, the new crossbow-wielding Demon Hunter class and the fact that players have ultimate abilities that can be used to take out hordes of enemies. In it, we see how the game has evolved over its last year of development and new classes, moves, costumes, and items are unveiled.
